About the project

TV Azteca, one of Mexico's largest broadcasters, runs a portfolio of high-traffic websites where page speed matters.

We built an automated system that runs Lighthouse performance tests across those sites every day and reports the results.

Scope

What our team worked on

  • Automated testing

A Lighthouse-based test runner covering the client's websites.

  • Scheduling and cost control

Serverless scheduling so the test machine only runs when it's needed.

Highlights

Problems we solved

  1. 01

Paying for a machine that sat idle

The test runner lived on an always-on AWS virtual machine, and the client was concerned about the cost.

    How we solved it

Wrote a scheduled Python AWS Lambda that starts the machine once a day, runs the tests and shuts it down again.

Outcomes

Results

  • Machine running hours cut by about 90%, from always-on to the daily test window
  • The client kept their daily performance reports

Tech stack

  • Lighthouse
  • Node.js
  • Python
  • AWS Lambda
  • EC2
